Engine oil circulates throughout an engine like blood in a human body.
Engine oil is essential for an engine. Role of the oil is cooling as well as lubricating all moving parts in an engine. Without it, engine does not work properly.
Unlike a human body which has its own blood cleansing mechanism, a car engine does not have such mechanism. Hence, quality of engine oil deteriorates over time as well as travel distance.
Once deterioration takes place, it does not get back to its normal condition. The oil does not possess natural healing ability which a human body does. In other words, proper engine maintenance is required for normal function of an engine. Without it, something bad might happen inside of an engine, which you cannot recognize by just opening the car hood.
In most cases, burning out, any damage of engine components and sludge are the results of improper maintenance of engine oil. Under such condition, an engine is not only unable to achieve the designed performance, but also may have negative effects on fuel consumption and environment.
Therefore, engine oil maintenance is essential, especially for engines used in severe conditions.
Even if using high performance engine oil or additives, it does not mean you do not need to change engine oil. As mentioned, once the deterioration takes place, it never stops.

There is huge difference between the conditions of these oil pans! Now you can easily imagine what happens inside of the engines.

Rebuilding is impossible with severely deteriorated engine.
